Wow!!! Hope nobody was hurt when the battery blew. Not a good idea to try jumping a 6 volt battery with a 12 volt one. I always note that if the motor is "Lopping" when trying to start and starts hard most definitely the timing is off. Rear main leak? What type seal was used? Hopefully they get the VF running like a top.
