For what it's worth, I bought a 12k tandem axle trailer to haul PW,s and my New Holland loader/backhoe, (weight about 7500)new in '03. The trailer came with Goodyear Wrangler HD 235/85/16 truck tires. The tires today look new have no visible signs of sun damage, tread depth looks as new. I have many miles hauling max legal loads with these tires, and (knock on wood) NO problems. I would buy the same thing today. I think you are on the right track.....
