I'm a big fan of driving them as is. No one likes cancer. It's good to be structurally sound. Sitting outside is bad for old trucks. Sitting in a body shop or disassembled in the pursuit of perfection is almost as bad.

You should make it how you want it, but if you need a litle license to enjoy it as is, I'll share this photo of my friend's truck. All the effort went into making this truck run like a beast and drive like a Cadillac (well, close anyway). Beyond that, time is spent driving and using the truck instead of painting and polishing it.

He let's me drive it on occassion, and I get more positive feedback from people on the street than from any restored classic car or truck I have ever driven.
