Arthur: A Cub Low Boy was one of the first tractors I restored. My block was bad, so I had to buy a used block.... That engine, as you are probably aware has no water pump! Sort of like many of the older John Deere Two cylinder tractors. Have you looked for a local machine shop to do the work? I'd much rather have a local shop do it than one out of town.
Sadly, it's going to cost the same money to bore/hone four small cylinders, replace valves/guides, mill the head etc as a large four cylinder engine. At the end of the day I sold mine, but I think I didn't even break even with the cost of the engine rebuild.
And.... When I first started it there was no oil pressure... One of the galley plugs got left out.... Oops.
Does the tractor have a lot of sentimental value?
