I had the same trouble on one that I did a while back the rubber kept popping out in the center like it was too tight. It may not have been the right way to fix it but it worked. I hung the rubber up and tied a brick to the bottom and heated it up with a heat gun for a while ti try to stretch it some. And when reinstalling it fit great and didn't pop out in the center so I installed it in the truck and fit good
