I couldn't remove the PTO, without removing the pedal bracket, when it was secured with screws. I don't remember removing the bracket when taking off a PTO from the "after-type" transmission. The PTO for the NP420 seems a little larger with less room between the bracket. Studs would certainly make it A LOT easier attaching to the transmission. I had a heck of a time getting a few screws started while balancing the PTO in place-- all while trying to not screw up the shim/gasket set.
