Some of you definitely have my number! ;^)

The truck in the painting is missing both headlight buckets, but it has turn signals that appear to be mounted on brackets attached to the sides of the radiator cowl - amazingly correct for a middle 50's Power-Wagon. It also has the correct number of grill bars. One can read "Dodge" on the cowl and "Power Wagon" on the side of the hood. And the lettering looks good - like dirty chrome. There are no windshield wiper blades or arms. The truck has a flatbed with sideboards that is filled with fence posts.

Mr. Sieve has apparently seen Power Wagons, or has studied photos. And then there is the John Deere tractor....missing the seat cushion...nice touch for a tractor left to rust in the weeds....and with an aftermarket exhaust.

My mistake though. I think it is a painting depicting late afternoon - not early morning. The Deer appear to be coming out of the timber to graze at the round bale. The Does are timid and the Buck is alert.

I like these kind of paintings where there seems to be so much movement in the image. And the presence of a Power-Wagon does not hurt either. Even though, yes, it had to be a green one that erected the windmill, which from the artists brush strokes, appears to be a 1930's to 1940's Air King sold through the Montgomery Wards catalog. ;^)

Stay tuned. Next time we will critique the works at the Figge Art Museum.....

Junior
