It was absolutely great to be there this year. I wish I had been able to spend more time talking with a whole lot of folks but I cant complain because I spent much of the other time with the family. We all had a wonderful time and are eager for next year already, this is truly a family brought together by an iconic machine.

The trip home was mostly uneventful for a stretch. We stopped for a leg stretch and bathroom break at I35 and also caught up with the other Tom from Kansas. Wind was kicking my ass but his even more so with the RV and small block motor so I hung with him till Cameron to at least lend a set of hazard lights when the hills pulled his 350 down to 40mph. I filled up at Cameron and checked everything over. Oil was a touch high but I had dumped just a little too much in before I left Fairfield so I thought nothing of it. All was well on 36 but I was having a small amount of trouble holding speed...once again, the wind was strong so I thought nothing of it. Just East of Seneca I noticed a sheen on the trailer so I pulled off to check things over. The sheen smelled of diesel. Popped the hood and found that my oil level was quite high and it was rather thin. Made a couple phone calls and had the cavalry on the way. Got my folks to head up with the car and swing by my Aunt and Uncles to grab the 98 12v Cummins truck so I could get the trailer and my buddy up the road headed out with his 35 footer and '17 3500 Cummins truck to get the Suburban. We all made it home right around 10pm.

That amount of fuel in the oil...maybe 3 or 4 quarts...seems can only come from a blown front seal on the VP44...but maybe from a bad oring on an injector or cracked injector? Guess Ill get a better idea tomorrow. The pump has maybe 50k on it and the injectors are just over 100k (RV275 genuine Bosch). I also noticed more blow by after I put the motor in the suburban, could this be caused by a failing copper injector gasket and this has been a long time coming?
