I've used the same high performance caster oil based grease over the past many years , for assembling brake parts . It's cheap , and should you drop some on the paintwork , it's not going to do what brake fluid does .
It's "PBR" rubber grease , made in Australia , but what you're talking about sounds very similar . Excellent stuff .
