Thanks. I still want to give it a try. Unfortunately I just discovered the doofus who worked on it last year replaced the distributor as well, no doubt attempting to "shotgun" a problem he couldn't figure out. I know the stock distributor was still good. The re-man unit he put in must have been ultra-cheap because they bead-blasted the vacuum advance unit along with the distributor housing. That's no doubt why the vacuum advance is non-op. I wonder what they charged the mine tour for that junk. Of course the re-man unit has no tag on it, only a meaningless smudge of ink that might have been an approximation of some in-house part number. And now I've lost the good stock distributor. Pisses me off I'm wasting my time cleaning up somebody else's f-ups. Oh, and he also crimped the connector for the reluctor wire so badly that the wire pulled out as soon as I touched it.

Anyway, I'm going to have to just take a guess at which Pertronix to get. I usually tell the parts computers that it's a '74 D100. I'd look at the dist on my D300, but that's an early non-electronic setup so I'm sure it's different. I may just go ahead and buy a new non-reman dist for it. They're only ~$100, and I'd need to spend $20 on the vacuum advance anyway. I just don't like the looks of a "rebuilt" dist that's been bead-blasted with the vacuum advance in place.
