I know a lot of people (I was going to say liberals, but we're all just people) that reluctantly leave rural areas that they love because there just aren't opportunities there. Mostly it is jobs, but more and more I see social opportunities pulling people to communities that are more diverse and welcoming. Of course the influx of people exacerbates the economic divide as it means ever fewer jobs in vacant rural areas.
