I think it was about 1986 or so when Michelin had a bad run of tires I had 2 tires on rims from a new car stored for winter and in the spring when taking the snow tires off. I found one tire had bulges with wires showing and the other was flat with wires protruding.And they were just in storage. many people around that time had tire problems. They have improved a lot since then but the stigma still exists
