Oil filters were optional on our trucks. If factory ordered with a filter, depending upon the year of your truck, there were up to three possibilities as to which manufacturer the filter was sourced from. If installed by the dealer, there were dozens of possibilities they could have chosen from.

We already know that the NAPA 1011 element was changed about 10 years ago and is no longer being produced in the correct size to fit the Deluxe JC canister. The Baldwin JC405 is currently the closest element to the original Deluxe JC you will find from any manufacturer, and it will fit the JC canister with reasonable effort.

Are you absolutely sure you have a Deluxe JC canister? Or could you have a Fram, Purolator, Wix, or one of the dozens of other possibilities?

If you are unsure, you are welcome to send me clear photos of the inside and outside of the canister, and the inside and the top of the lid. I may be able to determine what canister you have and we can go from there. I have several 1950's cross reference lists from different filter manufacturers.

Please do not try to alter your element to fit. If you have a unusual canister that cannot be fitted with an off-the-shelf element, the whole canister can easily be replaced. They are easy to find.
