The 8&3/4" 4 pinion third members in my WC 1/2 ton truck originally were installed in 1948-52 1 ton Pilothouse era trucks. They are Identical to any post-war WD model 1 ton truck with the only difference being whatever R & P ratio were installed in them. 57-59 Power Giant D-200's, W-200's, and D-300's also used the same Third Member. I also used the rear axle shafts from the PH truck in the rear axle third member since the side gear splines are 1-3/8"-16 vs the 1-5/16-16 spline found in the side gears of the 1/2 ton third members. I did have to have about a 1/4" of the axle shaft splines removed since the pinion shaft block made the shafts stick out from the axle hub. The rear axle drive shafts of the PH era trucks are also of larger diameter than the WC 1/2 ton shafts. I believe they are the same diameter as found in the 3/4 ton WC trucks. Now for the front axle, I had the side gears in the PH era third member removed and installed the side gears from a spare 1/2 ton WC third member. This was done so I could use the Rzeppa constant velocity joints for the front axle drive. There you have it. That's what I did to make my WC 1/2 ton a bit more road worthy without sacrificing too much off road capability. By the way, that third member that was shown below will not fit either a WC or PW.
