I agree...go with 14k GVW. That is what my trailer is. I have hauled my PW, my son's M37, his old Power Giant W100, and a 12k mini excavator, not to mention some loads of lumber that probably exceeded the 14k.
Get a good brake control for your tow vehicle, which should be at least a 3/4 ton. 1 ton is nice, but when I bought my '03 CTD, and my '06 CTD, the only difference I could see between the two was in the springs and the clearance lights on the cab roof.
