i don t think the wheels john has are far enuff out to bolt up to the stock wheel and get clearance between tires--clark had to use a 1 in. spacer to get clearance

the face of my 900 tires are 1 in. further out than the face of the stock wheel center so you would need plus or minus a 3 in. offset to use one outer and a stock inner to get tire clearance--2 in and the tires are rubbing

to me the best set up is minimal offset say 1.5(maybe less) on each giving you plus or minus one inch clearance

and then minimal machining of the drum ear

the more the offset the more you need to machine the drum od

this way the you are not sticking so far out into yonder land

but the best senario would be 1/2 ton hubs on the one ton spindle and disc brakes

that way you get a real dually hub!!!!!!!

or maybe 1/2 ton axle with the half ton drum and backing plate and upgrade to 1 ton centered axles and diff
