They were both longbeds, but the '64 had the 122" wheelbase. '66s and later (including the '68 D100) had 128" wheelbases due to the redesign allowing for the rapidly growing slide-in camper usage of the time period as well as additional rear departure clearance.

I can verify that the '64 W200 and '68 D100 frames are the same width from the front to at least the rear shackle mounts. I left the bigugly springs on the axles that I swapped and there is NO way that I could have manipulated them to fit onto a different width frame. (measured before I tried, too!)

It is my understanding that the 300 series had the closer-together, stronger frame.
