I've pulled small trees and shrubs with my LU2 equiped W300, the problem is that you are pulling sideways on the trunk, and trees are very strong in that direction, unless you can get up the trunk a ways, as mentioned before. A backhoe will help dig out the roots, as well as let you pull upwards, which works a lot better. You can get a backhoe for several hours at rental for less than a MU2 bull gear! My old half dead '64 Ford 4000 tractor/backhoe will out yank the winch when pulling brush and it's a lot faster and safer. PW's are great for many things, just not the best for this task! Rob
