I have an AC electric pump on mine with no pressure regulator, and no flooding problems. I'm not sure I fully understand what your describing. Does the truck run above idle only with you dripping gas down the carb's throat? If so, you have a starving fuel problem. Your either not getting gas in the carb bowl or your float is to low. Once you get it to run off idle without feeding it gas, then you can tackle the idle. Start by seating the air screw, then back off 2 full turns. If it will idle at that point, warm the engine and adjust to the mid point when turning the screw in till the engine starts to slow down, then turn the screw out till the engine starts to slow down, then screw in to mid point.
