230 will not idle

I tried to set up my 230 today but ran in to some trouble. First the electric fuel pump is putting out way too much pressure . Does any one know how much a 230 requires?
Secondly even with a full fuel boul the engine will not idle , it will rev up using the throtle ( after it has been primed - gas poured down the venturi) and it will run all day if you drip gas down the carb.
Any idea why this engine will not idle?
The carb has recently been rebuilt.
