Hello, all! I was at the Mecum auction, specifically to watch this truck go through as it belongs to an acquaintance of mine. I'm no expert on the auction process but it seemed to me that there was some confusion and the owner and auctioneers could not or did not coordinate as the truck went across the block. I do not know what the reserve was set at but it seemed to me that when there were no bids, the truck was shuffled off to the "the bid goes on" area. After that, it did not sell. Anyone who is familiar with the way that these Mecum auctions run will understand that they only give so much time to each lot as it passes the block unless there is a lot of bidding or particular interest in an item. Unfortunately, this truck did not generate any bidding and before you knew it they were on to the next Camaro or whatever. I'm not sure if Mecum and Los Angeles are the best market for a specialized vehicle like these are. Having said all of that, though, it did seem like the auctioneers were having to work very hard on many of the lots to get the bid and the reserve close enough to one another to strike a deal. I certainly would NOT consider this a valid assessment of this particular truck or the market for these vehicles in general. Just my humble opinion!
