Hi Roy - everything you stated is correct. When comparing CNG to LNG they sometimes reflect the same Material Safety Data Sheet information but in the end it depends on the natural gas composition at the source which can vary from 60% to 90% methane. The distinction I wanted folks to see is that typically methane (and other low carbon natural gasses are separated for use in particular downstream production resulting in widely variable compositions for CNG/LPG.
For the transportation application high metahane concentrations are the norm. For other compressed gas applications lower methane and higher propane/butane concentrations are found. It is a subject that both answers are correct and depend on what the end use is. - Joe
