That's about as far as I got. The dimensions of the 5.0L look friendly if you take off all the unnecessary stuff.

As Cummins begins offering that engine in more applications, maybe they will release a stand alone engine controller. That could make it doable. It would be expensive.

It would be a big job trying to re-engineer the ECU on your own by cutting it out of the Nissan platform. It's hard to predict what you might run into as far as computer integration goes.

My CRD Jeep put the transmission into limp mode when the windshield wiper motor was unhooked. That's just an example, and the new vehicles are much more complex.

If a B series is too loud for you, your best bet would be the 2.8L Cummins that is now offered as a crate engine from Cummins.
