I would suggest the epoxy primer all the way. Rattle can paint is not as durable than two part paints. Epoxy primer or self etching is the way to go, but I prefer the two part paint kind.
You should be able to shoot 2 part epoxy primer. Make sure you wear a respirator.
PPG DP90 is what I use as primer.
