If you have locking hubs on the front, lock them
Set Park Brake and Block wheels so it cant roll
Shift T Case into either neutral or 2 wheel (rear) drive
Jack only ONE wheel so its just off the ground, either wheel is fine
With one wheel just off the ground, make a chalk mark on the tire and one on the pavement, rotate the tire till both chalk marks align
Make a chalk mark on the front drive shaft (going to the front 3rd member)where you can see it turn
Slowly rotate the tire EXACTLY 2 turns while watching the mark on the drive shaft also turn.
Count the number of turns of the drive shaft.
If the drive shaft turns a tad less than 5 turns, you have 4.89 gears
If the drive shaft turns almost 6 times, you have 5.88 gears
Now you know whats in the front without pulling it. But do it a few times to be sure your count is accurate.
