As someone who had a similar problem with my '52, I can give some input.
AS Glen said, weights can go on the ring, just like a one piece rim. I have several on my truck.
A very important thing to remember is to take them to a "real" truck shop. The "chain" car and pickup tire places in general are not equipped for our wheels.
I went to an "big truck" place, and they spin balanced my wheels and tires while mounted on the truck, so they balanced the whole rotating mass. They also were able to identify one bent wheel, which I then swapped out to be the spare.
Finally, I have heard balancing beads might not be good if there is any chance of moisture getting inside the tube, like with humid air or driving in puddles?
Also very tedious to get inside a tube vs the tubeless tire?
