The truck was originally painted Seawolf Submarine Green from the factory (a really grayish green). Michael Johnson of Mt. Carroll, Illinois (the photographer) found it near Rochelle Illinois, I believe, and it had been in use at a Texaco filling station as a tow truck. It was painted a light gray, similar to the color it is now, and had the Texaco emblem on the doors. The tow body was lettered very similar to how you see it now. Michael had some of it repainted and he used it for a number of years in his side business, a sawmill, as a log skidder on his timber property. The current owner bought it from Michael.
