Galen, I'm awfully sorry to hear of the troubling times you are having. I'm not sure how long you've been thinking of selling your truck. I know you said it's been on jack stands for two years, but maybe the spunk for the truck has been gone for a lot longer than that? If so, then maybe you've already given yourself the time that others are suggesting you need to think about it. But if your interest has only waned in the last couple of years, well, I personally don't think that's too out of the ordinary, and sometimes a person just needs a break from their projects for a while, before they get interested and motivated again. That's how I've been with virtually all of my projects, but I eventually come back to them all.

My '49 has been on jack stands for 5+ years, and with the engine removed for most of that time. I became very discouraged when I found issues with the engine, which I had rebuilt several years before, largely caused by the machine shop I used. I also found issues with the rear differential (my fault), and I started on other repairs and upgrades. Working 60 - 70 hours per week prevented me from doing much with it at the time, and it all got to be overwhelming. Then my wife had to have major surgery, and my sweet mother-in-law got sick with cancer, and then my dad passed away, followed by my mother-in-law's passing, and finally my wife had more surgery last year. There was a bit of home remodeling in the middle of all of that, too, partly because the house needed it, and partly to give my father-in-law something to keep his mind off my recently passed mother-in-law. Now, after all that, life seems to be getting better, and I've gathered my thoughts and emotions and am actually feeling enthusiastic about getting the truck back together, which I plan to do this Spring/Summer. I had thought about selling my truck during the course of all that, but am now motivated to get it going again. Of course, it makes a difference if your wife is supportive (or not). My wife has always been supportive of my hobbies and didn't like the idea of me selling my Power Wagon. Also, while our finances have always been good (we keep a watchful eye on our spending), they got better in the last couple of years, so I feel more comfortable earmarking some funds for the truck.

Anyway, all of these things play a role in how we feel and think about the things in our lives, and if you do some soul-searching, hopefully you'll come to the right decision for yourself.

I wish the best for you!

Matt
