Make a templet out of hardwood to bend them on. Use the end grain with tin on it to bend the steel over. You can heat it and not smoke it out so fast just work fast. Put a pin to hold it tight at one end on the templet. You should be able to bend it with out heat and pounding the steel as it goes around the wood. I always used a long piece then cut off the excess so I had a good lever to work with.
