That darn dirt can hide everywhere! Change the fluid start it up and wash more crap around that falls off the sides and in the nooks and crannies. Seems once you start it you keep finding more and more stuff. I have cleaned a lot of old tractors that let water get in the shifter lever till it got in the pump and froze cracking them. Simple changing of the fluid each year or draining a little to check for water would save a lot of tranny belly mounted pumps.
