I will lay money that all the over torquing tire shops do when installing lug nuts does WAY more damage than any of this silver "devil's fluid" These people obviously do not live where salt, brine solutions and beet juice are used. Wearing out of threads is basically a non issue compared to twisting one off. It's always been rust that has caused it to me. Oil effects torque as they say too and we used to have different ratings for that.

Let's be honest here. Not too many shops use torque wrenches to do lugs. You're lucky if they do them by hand anymore to finish. Most rely on preset impacts.

Because of that I always tell people when they get tire work done to TRY to break loose the lugs at home while they have tools and time. Over 50% of the time the report back they they were all way too tight and either use breaker bars with pipe or borrow someones stronger impact.

Sorry for the rant but I'll keep doing the old, wasteful way and put everyone's life at risk.
