Paul in NY used a metal tool box on the running board for his battery box. If i recall, he took a few of the small round louvered soffet vents like you see in a hardware store, and installed them on the side of the box to vent gas.
I don't see why you could not do the same with the ammo box, just put the vents on the side near the box and so not visible?
