I also like Terry's idea. I have old cats so I know the box he means. They're always rusty in the bottom but they're so thick that they're still okay. You can put a stout hold-down on the battery if you're really going to be bouncing around a lot, but on my cats it just sits there on its own fine. The ammo can would be a nice idea, but I don't think there's any can that would fit a standard battery neatly.
