12" on center with rebar makes it hard to step in without getting feet caught as well. I also put about 10lbs of air pressure on the lines when I pored. That will show a bubbling leak if someone hits it. Have some splice repairs on hand when pouring. That is another reason why fishing and pulling up mesh would be asking for problems in my book.
