NOS or not, those steering gears leak like heck no matter what you use in them. At least that is what I thought until I took one apart and rebuilt it. You need to make a new steering gear housing bracket gasket as the cork in the NOS gear will be all dried out and useless. I used the wheel bearing nut wrench as a pattern since the OD of the wrench is the same as the housing bracket po gasket. When attaching the gear housing assembly to the housing bracket I used #2 Permatex between them since originally it was just a metal to metal contact between the two. The metal and cork sector shaft oil seal is absolutely useless. Remove that POS and Install a metric 32x42x7 coated oil seal. You will not regret it. IT has been 3 months since I installed the rebuilt steering gear in my truck and using the required 90wt Gear oil, not one drop has leaked out of the gear.
