changing out the rear to a larger diff was a common modification by mercedes and other overseas post war rebuilders. my command car had mercedes rebuild tags on all cases. some of the seals were metric on their OD and had some machined seal adapters to make the OD standard. i should have kept those adapters and sourced the european seals which had blue neoprene or rubber or whatever. they were nicer than the us stuff that went back in...
