I just read it again on Differential Lock for this JD. They recommend you slow down or stop first and not engage it while tires are spinning. So it is better to stop first and that is how I have always done it before. They also recommend NOT to unlock the pedals unless you are using them to help steer at slow speeds due to spin out or possible tip over at higher speeds. My older tractors never stopped this fast before with just using your toes to push them. In fact the auto transmission works like a brake when you let off the forward or reverse pedal for slowing down or stopping unless your going fast. It is taking some time to get used to having always used a standard transmission. In fact I still keep reaching for my shifter when I want to back up?
