Hi Tom,
It's good to hear from you. I've been doing it for 10 or 12 years now. Occasionally a neighbor has stopped or someone has sounded the horn while I have been putting the lights on, but putting the "Like us on Facebook" sign on the lawn has been great. If you can see the page, you can see that people say, "I look forward every year to seeing Power Wagon Santa" or, "thank you for putting the truck on the lawn". Also, I enjoy telling people that my truck has it's own Facebook page. The two children of the the woman I bought the house from 23 years ago even signed on the site saying "that's the house I grew up in".
At 74yo, I can't believe I've become a social media fan. If you don't have kids and are single, you don't meet a lot of the neighbors. But, for example ,the lady two doors down, who moved in 6 or 8 or ? years ago and who I had never met, signed on to say hello.
Hello to all the Dennan Overdrive customers and friends like Tom, Dock Dave, Wayne, Mac, Ed, Dave from Cape Cod, and Tim.
I thought about trying to put out a book about building an overdrive conversion and/or even building components for sale. Dock Dave encouraged me to find someone to build more OD's, and I would have given them all of my stuff gratis. Bottom line is, it's not rocket science. Any one can build one with a little help from a machine shop.
When you get to my age, (I can't believe I'm saying this), everything seems to speed up, and your ability to accomplish any thing slows down. The question of how much time you have starts to occupy your mind. Do you have five years? Would ten years be a gift?
So, Annie and I will continue to to travel in our Dodge B3500 Roadtreck,(we did 8k miles to California last summer).
We're leaving for Fla. in ten days for three months, and I consider that any days on the road to be a gift.
I will always be a loyal forum member and promoter to anyone who is interested, in spite of the fact that I am the consummate lurker. Best wishes, and good health to all of you guys and girls, and here's hoping we'll all be in touch for many years.
Dennis
