Well, as these trucks were used in areas close to the Equator, the additional, ah, GRAVITY that was created by the bulge in the earth, the ah, rotation of that extra mass, caused the previously FLAT front fenders to develop a slight curve to them. And then Dodge, AHEM, noticed that and decided to build ALL PWs with built-in curves to ah, AVOID the stresses of the metal of the fenders curving and uncurling as the truck was sent to different locations.
And the same thing was true with the variable-angle wing in aircraft like the F-14. Which also, ah, flew over the EQUATOR.
It's all about gravity, you see...
