Like Mark says below most fuel suppliers add anti-gel to the fuel in the cold months, and additional can be added and many do. Power Service, and Blue DEF are two brands I'm familiar with. I plug the block heater in on my truck when it gets cold, it helps for a easy start and within a few minutes it is warm enough to drive. Years ago before I had a heater in my vehicles, I plugged in a drop light with a 60 watt lamp and heated the engine, snow never built up on the hood. You could use additional anti-gel and heat the block with a light or heat the fuel with a light as well. Don't forget to tuck it in with an old moving blanket, to maintain the heat when it drops down in the negatives.
