The difference involved in initial start/idle procedures are going to be minor. What is 4 minutes vs 10 minutes? Point is, NOT full throttle/full load, that is when you put max load on the cam lobes. Otherwise, a couple minutes on high idle each time you start it, for the first few times without going on the road, and there is your 10 minutes.

Anyway, back to the low oil pressure, Id say change to a multi viscosity oil before tear down. You are depending on the machinist to have filled the crank- maybe with somehting like straight weight 50 ? It got thin the first time it got warm? He might even have used non-detergent?

There are lots of old wives tales for break in- both procedures and oils. Change to a known oil, then if need be drop the pan and the pump.
