A bunch of years back Bill Jewel from El Paso and I became friends through this page and Ebay. He came up this way and he spent a few days here. We went to a Large car and truck swap meet and he said he'd drive. All the way there I thought I notice people giving us dirty looks, but thought it was just me. Went to the swap meet and there was a long line of vehicles and we slowly made our way through. Again, the same looks. On our way home he stopped for fuel and the same, He even said something then about it and I couldn't understand why random people were being this way.
A few days later it hit me. New Mexico plates at that time had the same color layout that Ohio uses for convicted drunk drivers to have on their vehicles to ONLY drive to and from work! I then finally understood why and that it wasn't just in our heads. Still think about that whenever I see a person with those plates and brings a smile to my face.
