I found where this spec came from. It's listed in a book that is a reprint of some material that was supplied to Dodge dealers in the early 50's. There is a pretty extensive technical specifications section that I found to be very interesting as an engineer. The data looks legit, but again, many people have fitted these trucks with higher output powerplants, with no problems except the occasional broken axle shaft, so I doubt it's an issue. And of course, the axle shafts even break when used with the stock engines at times.
