Hi All,
Getting my axles back together under the 57 W-100. Goth the rear axle done, she is sitting on rubber on the rear at least.
The Dana 44 front axle looks a lot like the Flat Fender Power Wagon front axle, only about half the size. They use the same type bronze trunnion at the top and a taper roller bearing on the bottom. Is it common practice to replace the upper bronze trunnion with taper roller bearings like is often done in their big brother power Wagons?
The bearing preload with the bronze trunnion is 9-25 pounds, anyone have the spec if they are both roller bearings?
I am inclined to keep the bronze trunnions, as it was never much of a problem steering it in the past, but I do see in other Dana 44 applications the use of bearings both top and bottom.
I appreciate your thoughts on this.
Thanks,
tim
