Bigger slot to suit the bell joint on the new column/P,S. gear, and moved over. My plan is to use a shift lever boot between floor and column tube. Patch is tig welded into old slot, new one even has the O.E. style lip around it.
I'm using a steering colnm out oof a Dodge van. WITH factory bell joint on the bottom. That gives some fore and aft mothion, much better than the U-joints. Plus, the column has tilt,m turn sifgnals, flasher, and ignition system,. And will adapt for many after market wheels, even one that looks period appropriate.
