We got the PW cab back from the painter yesterday. Today we put it on the chassis and checked the alignment of the steering box and column to the cab. It's off by about 1 inch, hitting the inner edge of the slot in the firewall. BTW, we're using a steering box and cab from a 1957 PW, and a Dodge WC 6x6 chassis.
The backset from the inside of the frame to the center line of the PW steering box is 4-1/2". What I need is a box with a backset of about 3-1/2". I checked a steering box from a WC63, and the backset on the factory box is 4-1/2", so no joy there.
Anyone know where the Helitool style power steering bracket puts the center of the power steering box in relation to the inside of the frame???
