Ha Ha got mine done. I used the wooden pegs like you had suggested to hold it all in place.Then glued the outside of the channel with super glue and immediately hammered a 1/2"nylon twisted rope into the channel seating the canvas. The next day I used a motorcycle tire spoon and soapy water to pull the roof canvas tight and seat the rubber seal. The rope helped remove the wrinkles on the corners and get the canvas deep into the channel.
I am ready to do another one, bet it could be done in less than an hour.
