I agree with Paul. Go buy a quart of Epoxy primer and a spray gun suitable for primer. watch some youtube videos and spray a few pieces... it,s primer you cant really screw it up too bad, and if you do you can remove it. The epoxy is tough and not easily sanded but will seal the metal from moisture. Body work can be done on top of the epoxy primer. when you have the body work done you will spray a coat of Poly primer over the epoxy. Poly primer is thick to hide scratches, but sands easily. You need to wetsand, with a foam block, the poly primer with 320 or higher (400) for metallic. Then you can spray a single stage urethane or a base coat and clear coat... So you see you have to paint the truck at least three times, and there is a lot of labor involved. If you are a do it yourself type I would go for it... it's not hard, like learning to weld once you know how you will find many uses for your skills. I have used this company with good results, but the colors are kind of limited: www.paintforcars.com/acrylic_urethane_basecoat_clearcoat_kits_starfire.html
