said 4340 is no better than 4140 until after 4 in. diameters and that the 7210 is another option and the whole shaft is temperered vs jsut the spline area but the pc can t be over 39 in. long so i may do a set in 4140
going to take them a stock axle tommorrow -- they want to look at it and determine where the flaw and proceed from there
