When I put the GM 350 with a TH400 automatic, I used a short shaft TH 400 which I believe was used on the El Camino. With that, I had a really short shaft made up of two 3/4 ton spicer yokes put together to tie into the transfer in original location. Don't know if this is what you were referring to.
On the 6 speed ZF transmission, are you referring to the transmission Land Rover used on their Discoveries and Range Rovers? I know they used the 4.6 Bosch motor, patterned after the Dodge 318, but aluminum block. The motors are garbage, but the transmissions are pretty stout hooked onto an LT230 transfer.
